Principal's Message

I would like to take a moment to thank students, staff, parents and community members for welcoming me to the school community. October is here and students have settled into another year with enthusiasm about their learning and our fantastic teachers are supporting this energy with high expectations for each and every child that attends Winding River.

First, I would like to thank Tim Hortons for their endless support with our breakfast program. Further, their generous contribution for the smile cookies sold will go a long way ensuring students get the extras they deserve. Thank you!

Also I would like to thank our Home and School for providing fresh fruit and drinks to our students during the Terry Fox Walk and our Cross Country meet held at Stewiake River Park.... Greatly appreciated!!!!

A few reminders:

-Please ensure your child is dressed for the cooler weather.

-A friendly reminder that all parents must sign into the office if they will be going to any classroom throughout the school. Once you sign in you need to get a hall pass to enter the wings of the school. This is to ensure the safety of all students in the building. Please be mindful that although we know you would love to bring your child to class and help with their jackets and other, it is important that they do this on their own. This builds confidence and teaches them responsibility. I understand your intentions are good but other students can feel anxiety when they see adults they do not know. We appreciate your support with this change.

Please see the calendar for a list of events in October and browse through our school cafeteria menu, I suspect there is something your child will enjoy at great prices...

Thanks,

Mr Oakley
